Calypso awards : Matawan wins innovation award
We won the Calypso trophy for "Best innovation of the year" thanks to our integrated, interoperable ticketing solution.
The innovation developed by Matawan’s expert subsidiary Billettique Services and SNCF is based on Account-Based Ticketing (ABT) technology, interoperable with the French rail network’s Card-Based Ticketing (CBT) system.
This solution was awarded “Best Innovation of the Year” at the Calypso Awards for its ability to combine the agility of ABT technology with the storage capacity of Calypso transport media.
In the same urban area, an ABT holder can now board and be controlled on the CBT-equipped rail network, thanks to the time-stamping of his or her ticket via a Matawan validator installed on the platform.
For the local authority, this means it can develop its range of fares with peace of mind, avoiding any ad hoc development and updating of validation and control systems in the event of fare changes.
Initially developed for the La Rochelle metropolitan area network, this interoperable control solution makes it possible to combine a journey by different modes of transport (bus, river shuttle, bicycle) with a regional train journey within the same mobility zone, without any action other than validating the usual ticket.
Currently being standardized by AFNOR, this solution can now be replicated throughout France in any network equipped with ABT ticketing and with at least two stations within the perimeter of its urban transport network. It will be deployed in 2024 in the Greater Reims urban community, which has a population of 300,000.
